Based on the pre-existing knowledge in this field, NVAO, representing two member countries (Netherlands / Flanders) of the European Consortium for Accreditation in Higher Education (ECA), developed and tested a system for assessing internationalisation at programme level. The evaluation of these pilots resulted in a framework for the assessment of internationalization at both programme and institutional levels. The evaluation is carried out in collaboration with the CTI (Commission des Titres d'Ingénieurs) and the HCERES (Haut Conseil de l'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur). When it is positively assessed, a distinctive quality criterion on internationalisation is awarded and this achievement is included in the accreditation or audit decision that is published together with the evaluation report.
École des Ponts ParisTech, which has successfully incorporated an international and intercultural dimension into the function, purpose and process of engineering degree education, has received a European certificate as a testimony to its achievements: CeQuInt (certificate of quality in internationalisation). The certificate expresses that the students achieve high international and intercultural competence in its engineering degree programme.
École des Ponts ParisTech's engineering programme received the CeQuInt certificate from the European Consortium for Accreditation in Higher Education (ECAHE) for the successful implementation of effective and proven internationalisation activities that clearly contribute to the quality of teaching and learning. In addition, it has been distinguished for the excellence of its teaching methods by highlighting its good practice "Teaching for language acquisition and intercultural competency".
The certificate was awarded to 11 institutions and programmes in Europe as part of a pilot scheme to establish a quality label for internationalisation in higher education between 2012 and 2015.
